Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Dr. Frankestein’ (Yes, another Frankenstein movie) is planning to start shoot in February 2024, as reported by Production Weekly and World of Reel. But only if the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strikes could come to a resolution, ofcourse.
The movie has cast Oscar Isaac, Mia Goth and Andrew Garfield already.

Set in the 19th century, the film is the story of Dr. Pretorious, who has to track down Dr. Frankenstein’s monster — who is believed to have died in a fire forty years before — in order to continue his experiments on him.
The movie will be Guillermo del Toro’s 3rd project with Netflix with him working with the streaming giant on “Pinocchio” and “Cabinet of Curiousities” earlier. The movie is a dream project for Guillermo del Toro as he has been meaning to bring Mary Shelley’s gothic horror novel, Frankenstein to Animated Life for more than 10 years now.
Guillermo del Toro even got talking about his love for Mary Shelley’s writing at Comic-con
“My favorite novel in the world is Frankenstein,” he stated. “I’m going to misquote it horribly, but the monster says, ‘I have such love in me, more than you can imagine. But, if I cannot provoke it, I will provoke fear.’ As a child that was disenfranchised from everything, and that was in a world that was the wrong size, run by the wrong people, the wrong morale and the wrong rules, I felt completely outside of that, and I wanted some measure of control, and the measure of control I found was through fear.”
Guillermo is a huge fan of Boris Karloff Monster collectibles and has collected many of them. He got very close to starting the project in 2018 with Universal Studios, but the studio soon scrapped the entire project.
Del toro’s Pinocchio won him an Oscar in 2022 for the best Animated Film, so we have high hopes for this one.
