On Monday, a jury in Los Angeles found Harvey Weinstein guilty of all three counts of rape and sexual assault that had been brought against him.
Harvey Weinstein, a famous movie producer whose fall from grace helped start the #MeToo movement, was first charged with seven counts of sexual misconduct. According to a source, Harvey Weinstein was found guilty of raping one woman, but the jury couldn’t decide on three of the other charges, and he was found not guilty of one charge of sexual battery.
Harvey Weinstein has been locked up since 2020 when he was given multiple prison terms for sex-related crimes in the state of New York. Besides these claims, dozens of other women have accused Harvey Weinstein of sexual misconduct, such as rape and harassment.
At the trial in Los Angeles, which started at the end of October, a total of eight women testified that Harvey Weinstein had sexually assaulted them. The accusations against Harvey Weinstein are based on the experiences of four women, and the testimony of four others was used by the prosecution to show that he did similar things to other women that were sexually abusive. Jennifer Siebel Newsom, who is the wife of the Democratic Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, was one of the women who testified against Harvey Weinstein. She said that Harvey Weinstein had sexually assaulted her in 2005.
Who would suspect that such an entertainment industry titan would be a degenerate rapist?
The source says that Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney Marlene Martinez asked the jury this question during the closing arguments the week before.
For this predator, hotels were his trap,
she continued.
Confined within those walls victims were not able to run from his hulking mass. People were not able to hear their screams, they were not able to see them cower.
Most of the time, Harvey Weinstein has strongly denied doing anything wrong, and his lawyers put up a strong defense during the trial. His lawyers have said that his alleged victims made up the accusations, didn’t seem as upset after the alleged attacks as they should have been, and called consensual encounters “nonconsensual” to take advantage of the #MeToo movement.
Another source says that during opening statements, one of the lawyers said that Siebel Newsom was “just another bimbo who slept with Harvey Weinstein to get ahead.” This lawyer also asked Siebel Newsom, who got very emotional while testifying, to show how she faked an orgasm during Weinstein’s alleged attack on her so she could get away from the producer faster. Siebel Newsom said that she did this to get away from Harvey Weinstein as quickly as possible.
Another source says that Siebel Newsom turned down the chance.
This is not When Harry Met Sally,
she said this while referring to a famous movie in which Meg Ryan shows how to act like you’re having an orgasmic experience.
A source says that only Lauren Young, one of the four women whose stories are part of the charge against Harvey Weinstein, testified against him in a previous trial in New York. The accusation against Weinstein is based on what these women say happened.
She says that in 2013, he touched her inappropriately and masturbated in front of her. Another woman named Jane Doe 1 testified in court that Weinstein raped her in a hotel room in 2013. A third woman named Jane Doe 3 said that he touched her inappropriately and masturbated in front of her in 2010. Technically, Young is called Jane Doe 2, and Siebel Newsom is called Jane Doe 4.
