The Last of Us Season 2 Renewed or Canceled?
The Last of Us Season 2 has been officially confirmed by HBO Max. Yes, the series will be returning for another season on the streaming service. However, it is unconfirmed when the series will be arriving on HBO Max.
The Last of Us Season 2 Expected Release Date
The release date of The Last of Season 2 is expected to be in 2025. Moreover, the season 2 release could be even far away from 2025 since the writers of the show are on strike.
HBO’s head Francesca Orsi has said that there could be a huge impact on the show’s release timeline due to the writer’s strike. She added:
We were looking at The Last Of Us for some time in 2025… but there’s some question about the timing of the strike.
“While everything at this moment is pencils down, I’m hopeful that we can come to terms sooner than later. Otherwise we will have to assess what is the end of the 24 schedule, what are the shows that are going to be delivered for 2025. At this point, those shows that I’m looking to air wouldn’t necessarily be ready if this strike last six to nine months. So yes, that’s a big question for us, but I think we’ll cross that road once we come to it.”
While season 1 was delayed due to the pandemic, season 2 is also likely to face a delay due to the writer’s strike. Moreover, there is no information on when the Season 2 shoot will begin. Pedro Pascal said in an interview with Collider:
“In the year 2023? Oh, what season are we in now? We’re getting into spring?” Ultimately, he came around to specifics saying, “Yes, there is a chance. Yes”
