Disney is all set to take us back to the High School Musical universe with High School Musical 4. More than ten years after the first three ‘High School Musical’ movies released, we are all set to return to the hit movie franchise. Which can mean only one thing – Wildcats vs West High Knights is back! And we are not going to stick to the status quo!

Will the original cast return?
Sadly, the answer seems to be a resolute no. Disney has indicated that High School Musical 4 will be a reboot. It seems, therefore, that Zac Effron, Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale will not be returning to the roles that made them famous.
Its official title, in fact, is ‘High School Musical: The Musical”. The new film takes a fresh new look at the High School Musical world and stars an all-new cast. The new line-up consists of Joshua Bassett as Ricky, Matt Cornett as E.J., and Julia Lester as Ashlyn in the lead.
High School Musical 4 is a TV Series?
To be precise, it will be a web series. The series will be streamed exclusively on Disney+, Disney’s planned streaming channel to rival Netflix and Hulu. According to reports, the series will be shot in a mockumentary style where actors are performing ‘High School Musical’ on stage with all new songs.
But it is the off-stage drama that will become the focus of this ‘meta’ look at the ‘High School Musical’ world.
When will High School Musical 4 release?
The new series was originally slated to be released by the end of 2019. This is also the planned release period for the Disney+ channel. A delay looks likely, however, considering Disney will likely launch the series with its set of Marvel shows. This could mean that we will only get to see the show in 2020.
