Southern Californians were supposed to witness a colorful light show in clear skies on Tuesday evening with the launch of the Delta IV rocket at the Vandenberg Air Force Base located in Lompoc. However, the liftoff was postponed because of high winds in the launch pad area and instead will take place on Wednesday at 5:54 pm.
This is the second time that the rocket’ launch has been scrubbed. It was initially going to be launched on 8 December, but the lift-off was however canceled because of a technical issue. Moreover, a prior launch of the rocket on December 7 was also delayed due to an operational issue.
The Delta IV or D-4 Heavy rocket will be carrying a national reconnaissance satellite into space.
Notably, the Delta IV rocket was supposed to be the last rocket out of four other rocket launches scheduled for Tuesday. SpaceX, Arianespace, and Blue Origin also had their rocket launch missions called off due to different reasons.
