In sickness and in health! This is a vow that Chuck Norris took too seriously. Norris is a highly accomplished actor and a martial arts specialist. One can easily recall some of his classics like Walker, Texas Ranger, The Delta Force, and more. Leaving a raging career behind is not an easy decision. However, for Norris, it wasn’t something that required second questioning. He left everything behind when his wife Gena’s health started crumbling. The actor gave up everything to be the primary caretaker of his loving wife.
Chuck Norris has been married to model Gena O’Kelly since 1998 and has two children. Tragically, in 2013, Gena was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis which is an autoimmune disease. However, she was given a contrast material to improve the diagnostic value of these medical images before the MRI scans. Almost after a month, Gena began feeling weird and soon developed a constant burning sensation in her body. She explains, “I was in the emergency room for 5 or 6 nights in a row and the symptoms were getting worse, the burning sensation continued to spread through my body.”
Chuck Norris left everything to take care of wife
For Chuck Norris’ wife, these emergency visits were only going to increase. Gena says, “When I arrived, they would ask me what was wrong and I would tell them that I didn’t know, that I didn’t feel well, that I felt like I was burning, as if I had acid inside my body.” In the next five months, Gena’s health deteriorated to such a level that she was not able to take care of herself. Many doctors tried to diagnose her for cancer, Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, and more. However, Gena has been educating herself and she figured out what was wrong with her.
It was gadolinium poisoning, which is related to contrast material. Moreover, it is the same material she was given before her MRI scans months ago. After telling the doctors, they tried to remove this demonic material that was slowly killing Gena. Finally, the answer was in alternative medicine which they found in Reno, Nevada. Chuck Norris recalls the condition of his wife. He says, “When we got there, she couldn’t swallow, so we had to feed her baby food through her esophagus.”
Gena’s life turned around
Gena went from an energetic person to someone who could not even get up from the bed. At this time, Chuck Norris decided to stick by his wedding vow – In sickness and in health. He was not ready to lose his best friend who has been with him through thick and thin. Norris left everything behind to take care of his wife. Gena recalls how she started feeling differently after the first MRI. He says, “Within hours after the first jab I felt like my whole body was on fire — as if acid had been passed through it. The burning was isolated at first, but it just kept spreading… I just lay in bed on an IV for five months and had to have round-the-clock nursing care. Chuck slept beside me on the couch and never left. I prayed that I would live to raise my children.”
