Howard Stern said that Rihanna lip-synced most of her Super Bowl performance on Sunday and that she was caught when she made a few mistakes with the microphone.
Stern, 69, told listeners of The Howard Stern Show on Sirius XM on Monday that he thinks she mimed. During the performance, the singer, who is 34 years old, told the crowd she was pregnant with her second child.
He said:
You know, I don’t even know why she bothered showing up. I could be wrong, but in my opinion, 85 percent of that performance was lip sync.
Well, the big giveaway might be when she puts the microphone down by her knees and her lips aren’t moving and the other voices are going,
Co-host Robin Quivers said she ‘couldn’t be sure’ whether Rihanna sang the entire time.
Stern then added:
I had a theory, Rihanna was not lip-syncing, but she put the microphone near her vagina so the new baby could sing. The baby was singing backup.
Rihanna shocked her fans when she told them during her Super Bowl performance on Sunday that she was pregnant with her second child.
She had her first child with the rapper A$AP Rocky on May 13, 2022. He stayed out of sight at the event. They have kept their growing family a secret, and neither musician has said what their child’s name is yet.
A representative for the star told reporters about the baby soon after the show ended.
It was the first time she performed live on TV since the Grammy Awards in 2018 when she sang Wild Thoughts with DJ Khaled.
Rihanna opened the show by singing her hit song “B**** Better Have My Money” from a platform high above the field. She was wearing a baggy red jumpsuit that covered her curves. It was strapped on loosely.
The singer wore a pair of chunky red sneakers with the suit. The platform she was on descended toward the field, where she joined a group of dancers dressed in white on stage.
She didn’t do much dancing herself and let the other dancers fill in the gaps.
During her performance, which had 12 songs, Rihanna stuck to her hits and didn’t sing any new songs. As she changed to the song “Where Have You Been,” the crowd went crazy. Then she sang the hit song “Only Girl (In The World).”
