Hugh Jackman, the well-known Wolverine actor, has disclosed that he is undergoing additional skin cancer screenings following a recent medical exam. With a bandaged nose, the actor took to social media to encourage his followers to get medical checks and use sun protection.
The 54-year-old actor anticipates receiving the results of his assessments shortly. Jackman had his first cancer excised in 2013 and has had at least six surgeries since then.

The actor disclosed in a social media video that his doctors discovered “little things that could be, or could not be, basal cell [carcinomas].”
Basal cell carcinoma is a type of non-melanoma skin cancer that has a very low risk of spreading. According to the NHS, such cancers are successfully treated in 90% of instances. On the other hand, Hugh Jackman wants his experience to serve as a reminder to people to use sun protection measures.
“Please wear sunscreen, it is just not worth it, no matter how much you want a tan. Trust me!” he said.
Hugh Jackman assured his fans that basal cell carcinomas are the “least harmful” variety of cancer.

During an interview with People magazine in 2015, Jackman revealed that his skin cancer diagnosis shocked him, saying:
“It’s always a bit of a shock just hearing the word ‘cancer’,” he said. “Being an Australian, it’s a very common thing. I never wore sunscreen growing up so I was a prime candidate for it.”
In 2013, Jackman disclosed to his followers that he had undergone treatment for the removal of cancerous tissue from his nose. His basal cell carcinoma, however, reappeared twice the following year and several times after that.
