Yoshihiro Togashi, who has been struggling to issue the Hunter X Hunter manga series regularly due to his poor health, announced three possible Hunter X Hunter endings. Before jumping to conclusions immediately, remember Togashi is known to write stories with all kinds of possibilities in mind, and we know from his previous interviews he likes to write stories where the “bad guys” win.
Hunter x Hunter Endings Revealed By The Author Himself
Yoshihiro Togashi has been suffering from ill health for over a few years and has been unable to deliver the manga chapters to the Shonen Jump Magazine issues in time. Togashi has previously explained in many of his interviews that he wants to finish his manga series as it’s his creation and very close to his heart, but he has to endure a lot of pain while illustrating the chapters.
So what are the possible endings that Togashi has constructed for the fans? Togashi revealed three Hunter x Hunter endings scenarios, A, B, and C, and predicted the ratings of fan reactions from satisfied to dissatisfied. According to Togashi’s statement, Scenario A would result in a 50% satisfaction rate, a 20% dissatisfaction rate, and a 30% neutral rating. Togashi believes this ending is one of the safest because it won’t draw much criticism. Scenario B would have an equal rate of Satisfaction and Dissatisfaction percentage. Scenario C, on the other hand, would receive 90% dissatisfaction and 10% satisfaction, which is also one of Togashi’s particular preferences.
The Actual Hunter x Hunter Ending (Scenario D)
Togashi has developed another scenario and asked the audience to see this as the final ending in case he has an “early demise.” Togashi, who prefers endings in which the bad guys win, is not pleased with this scenario; he refers to this as Scenario D, where everyone is happy.

Gin, the girl in the scene, is shown holding a fishing rod while standing motionless. The fishing rod starts to shake, and Gin declares she has caught the Lake Lord. She takes it to her mother and tells her that she’s done hunting and urges her to stop nagging her to go hunting. It appears that Gin’s mother’s hopes were crushed since she thought her daughter would develop an interest in hunting once she caught the fish. Instead, Gin’s dream is to take over the family store and stay on the island forever.
Gin’s mother, though, has hopes that her daughter might change her mind but is advised by her husband to honor Gin’s wishes. Gin’s mother feels that her husband is too comfortable to allow Gin to remain on the island, and she assumes it is due to the blood of Grandma Mito and Grandma Noko. The fact that Noko and Mito are not blood relatives is unknown to Gin’s mother. Since Gin’s grandfather was a well-known hunter, she is adamant that Gin will eventually depart from the island.
Gin hears her mother’s remarks and shouts back that she won’t and dashes out into the forest. Gin’s father claims there will be no sneaking anything past her. Later, when Gin is chopping up the fish, it dawns on her that she wants to stay on the island with a boy who brings in some vegetables from the mountains. She doesn’t want to wait for anyone and make anyone wait for her. As the bird takes off from the island, we observe several places below inhabited by people who appear to be children or grandchildren of the characters we know.
Togashi’s chosen ending is an alternative scenario that could change based on the readers’ interpretation. His favorite is Scenario C, in which 90% of the reader is dissatisfied, but he has promised to come up with something better because he doesn’t want to upset anyone. The conclusion mentioned above is outlined in case Yoshihiro Togashi encounters any unfavorable circumstances, that is, his sudden death.
