Attack on Titans is a dark fantasy, Post-apocalyptic anime written by Hajime Isayama. The manga follows Eren Yeager, an Eldian who loses his mother in a Titan attack and decides to join the Titan killing survey corps. Eren then discovers that he can turn into a titan called the ” Attack Titan”. The story then progresses with a lot of deaths and dark human themes. The manga ended at 34 volumes and the anime ran successfully for 4 seasons. Part 2 of 4th season is soon to air. MAPPA Studios is responsible for the production of the show.

Season 4 dealt with the flashback of the founding Titan. From season one the writer and the director have been teasing fans about the founding Titan and the devastating effect she brought into the world. Ymir’s flashback needed to be so intense that fans could relate to how dark the anime was. The founding Titan was a slave that lived in a cruel world. the characters lived.

The director Yuichiro Hayashi mentioned that his inspiration to direct this season was from the infamous movie 300 directed by Jack Zack Snyder. Yuichiro was heard saying:
“I struggled a lot with what to do with the visuals of that scene. I didn’t want to make it an ordinary flashback. I wanted its look to be more striking. The characters look darker because they’re all against the light, while the sky is glowing brighter. We wanted it to look like some images from the movie 300. It looks kind of like bleach bypass. It has created an extraordinary ambiance. I thought that the ordinary blue sky would not fit that scene. We needed a world with a tense, unsettling atmosphere to show something unusual is happening.”
Frank Miller wrote the book “300”. He also wrote the infamous book which was adapted into a movie, ” The dark knight rises”. The theme fits so well with the anime that he decided to use the movie for reference.
Eren asks the founding Titan to lend him her power during the rumbling, thus turning himself into the founding Titan.
