They are some of the most popular cartoon characters ever created- characters like Homer Simpson, Flynn Rider, Lilo Pelekai, and many more would look like if they were to magically turn into humans (one could wish, right?)!
Hidreley Leli Diao is a Brazilian artist “who loves everything related to digital art.” After discovering that artificial intelligence software can create photo-realistic portraits of people who do not actually exist, Diao began experimenting with the technology in creative ways.
Well, the images below offer a glimpse after being created by a digital artist who used artificial intelligence (AI) to help imagine what a host of characters from Disney films to The Simpsons might be like if they were ‘human’.
#1 Lilo Pelekai From Lilo & Stitch
“When it comes to editing one image from this exact series, it takes me an average of two and a half hours. But also it’s worth noting that a lot also depends on the character I’m doing! Some are easier and others are harder so it’s pretty situational if you ask me. We will see how well it’s gonna go in the future as well.”
#2 Dash From The Incredibles
Diao says he grew up watching the Simpsons, Hanna Barbera shows, and Disney animations that made a big impact on his life. With state-of-the-art AI photo software, Diao was able to create lifelike portraits of some of his favorite characters.
#3 Joe Gardner From Soul
“In my last post, I’m pretty sure I mentioned which characters were my favorite ones to make. Given that it’s a sequel, I decided to continue with the tradition! When I was working on this post, my favorite characters to edit were all of the characters from the Simpsons and the He-man… but if I’m being honest, I like them all, haha.”
#4 Bruno Madrigal From Encanto
‘Since I discovered artificial intelligence, I’ve been challenging myself to do things I would never have imagined doing,’ Diao told.
‘With several studies and a lot of practice, I thought it was time to bring some Disney characters to human life.’
#5 Flynn Rider From Tangled
‘When it comes to the future characters that I’d like to bring to life, well… there are many and my followers also keep suggesting a lot of other characters that I could do. Recently I’ve been getting a lot of suggestions on doing Hanna Barbera, and I believe they would make a great challenge!’
#6 Raya From Raya And The Last Dragon
#7 Mulan
‘However, at times when I’m working on all of these characters, it gets pretty tiring, especially when I’m really set on making sure the character would look like a modern-day person while also retaining their key features. It all pays off in the end since people seem to be enjoying it and it makes me happy in return.’
The software he used to create the “photos” was Photoshop and three different mobile AI photo editing apps: FaceApp, Gradient, and Remini.
Each portrait was created by scouring the Web for portraits containing facial features matching the characters.
“I look for images in banks and overlay the image starting with the eyes,” Diao says. “The hardest part is finding an image that matches the character I’m working on.”
#8 Mirabel Madrigal From Encanto
#9 Tiana From The Princess And The Frog
‘Right now I’m working on a new project which I briefly mentioned in my last post. My newest project after this one will probably be the celebrities who passed away too soon, so be on the lookout for that one!’
‘After I went viral all I can say is that I feel accomplished. My life changed after that. I managed to move a lot of people. It’s so exciting to know that I can make people happy with my work. It certainly fueled my inspiration!’
#10 Ursula From The Little Mermaid
#11 Pepa Madrigal From Encanto
#12 Violet Parr From The Incredibles
#13 Luisa Madrigal From Encanto
#14 Julieta Madrigal From Encanto
“When we watch some animation, it is natural to accept the cartoonish proportions of the characters without any problems, after all, we are quite used to this type of trait,” Diao writes, where is a contributor. “But what if, as in a spell, they became real, flesh and blood? I tried to bring them into our world through artificial intelligence.”
