Famously known for playing Drax in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy series, Dave Bautista is a proud ally of the LGBTQ+ community. The former WWE Heavyweight Champion took to his social media to show his love and support for his mother and the community with a sweet and bold message.
‘F*** You If You Don’t Like It’: Dave Bautista’s Pride Season Message
The 54-year-old wrestler-turned-actor is known for his roles in hit movies and franchises such as Dune, Guardians of the Galaxy, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, and Blade Runner 2049. Bautista’s hunky and muscular appearance is evident enough for anyone to mistake him for a gym freak or a bodybuilder. However, in an interview with Men’s Health Magazine, Dave Bautista denied being a “meathead.”
“I think a lot of people think I’m just a meathead and that I live my life lifting weights. And I actually don’t. I do live my life training, but I think people think that I train because I want to look like a bodybuilder or a big musclehead. And it’s not at all the case.”
The American actor added that he’s not someone who boasts about killing it in the gym or lifting heavy weights.
“I’m not consumed about like, ‘Oh I can bench, like, 500 pounds; I can deadlift 800 pounds.’ I’m not that guy at all.
He recently shared a post on Instagram, @davebautista, while celebrating Pride month. The Guardians of the Galaxy actor can be seen rocking a light blue t-shirt with a rainbow that says “Be You.” Dave Bautista captioned the photo with a heartwarming message for his mom, who is a lesbian.
The caption of the photo reads as follows-
I was always proud of who my mom was because she was always proud of who she was. In your face, fuck you if you don’t like it, unapologetically loud and proud. And her son payed attention. BE LOUD, BE PROUD, BE YOU. ❤️🏳️🌈💪🏽 #ProudSonOfALesbian #pride #pridemonth #lgbtq #lgbt
Dave Bautista’s mother Donna Raye Bautista is an openly gay woman and the actor has expressed his love and support for his mother quite often. He is proud to be raised by a strong lesbian mother.
“Loud and proud when it wasn’t ok to be loud and proud. She never apologized for who she was or who she loved. Which is why I never did either. And never will! A strong lesbian raised a strong man and I couldn’t be more proud of her.”
He also openly supported the pro-choice movement against the abortion ban that is imposed in the US states. Dave Bautista has used his platform to raise his voice against injustice against women’s right to choose and the LGBTQ+ community quite often.
