Why did Netflix cancel Inside Job Season 2?
According to creator Shion Takeuchi, Netflix cancels Inside Job after one season.
A Netflix rep confirms the cancellation of season 2, which was announced in June. Takeuchi expresses heartbreak and shares that the characters had become real to her.
Inside Job is a sendup of “The X-Files” and stars Lizzy Caplan, Christian Slater, and Clark Duke. The show follows tech genius Reagan Ridley as she works to uncover hidden secrets with partner Brett Hand.
Despite the optimism, Reagan faced challenges to her dream promotion, including her unhinged, conspiracy-mongering father and irresponsible coworkers.
Inside Job is the first adult-animation series produced in-house by Netflix Animation Studios and the first project under Takeuchi’s overall deal with Netflix.
Takeuchi, a writer on “Gravity Falls” and other shows, announced the cancellation Sunday evening on Twitter. “I’m heartbroken to confirm that Netflix has decided to cancel Season 2 of ‘Inside Job,’ she wrote. “Over the years, these characters have become real people to me, and I am devastated not to be able to watch them grow up.”
