Apple.inc officially released a new, minor update of the iOS 12 operating system.
The minor update 12.0.1 fixed a small number of bugs that the iOS device users faced after the major release of iOS 12 on 17th September. The most notable problems of the iOS 12 were problems related to WiFi connectivity of the device and charging issues on the newly unveiled iPhones.
A handful of users who got their hands on the latest iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, reportedly discovered that their iOS devices had slower WiFi devices which weren’t expected in the new generation of iPhone’s ‘X’ series. After some time the users also uncovered that their iPhone XS joined with the WiFi networks that were available in both 5GHz and 2.4GHz given the fact that the iPhone XS only supports the WiFi connectivity of 5GHz.
Another issue called “charge-gate” which the iPhone XS users faced was with the Lightning charging technology, a few iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max had allegedly failed to start charging when the phones were connected to their respective power sources via the faster Lightning port soon after the screen is turned off. Due to this issue, the users had to manually keep the display of their phones on to get it juiced up. The tech heads who reviewed the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max didn’t face this problem. Nevertheless, this bug has resolved in the new update.
Another major bug that messed up the iOS devices was the orientation of the number key “123” on the virtual keyboard of iPad. In the iOS 12 update, the orientation of “123” was swapped and replaced with language/emoji key. The other bugs which have been fixed with the iOS 12.0.1 are the display of subtitles in specific video applications and the unavailability of Bluetooth.
The update is available to all iOS users. The update can be installed by clicking on Settings > General > Software Update.
