Family Guy Movie? Despite the series’ continued success on TV, the executive producers behind the show have yet to make the jump to the big screen. Unlike The Simpsons and Bob’s Burgers, which have had their own feature films, Family Guy has only had a feature-length home media release. Even though the show has seen monumental success ever since 20th Century Fox brought it back from the cancellation, a proper movie adaptation has not yet been made.
During a recent interview with Emmy Magazine, Family Guy executive producers Alec Sulkin and Rich Appel discussed why a Family Guy movie has yet to materialize. They attributed the delay to the fact that series creator Seth MacFarlane has been busy with several other projects. Although the producers joked about some of MacFarlane’s cinematic misses, they made it clear that his schedule has been the primary factor preventing the development of a movie.
Will There Be A Family Guy Movie?
When questioned about the possibility of a movie, executive producer Alec Sulkin pointed out that movies can be unpredictable. He referenced some of Seth MacFarlane’s previous cinematic efforts, such as Ted 2, which were not as successful as the original. Rich Appel, on the other hand, provided a more specific reason why a Family Guy movie hasn’t been made yet. According to him, Seth MacFarlane is too busy with other projects, including the Ted TV series and book club, to devote time to a movie. Unfortunately, this means that fans may have to wait even longer for the much-anticipated movie of the beloved series.
Along with the show’s success, the talented and star-studded Family Guy cast has also helped propel the show forward. Lead actor and creator Seth MacFarlane voices several of the Family Guy characters, including Peter, Stewie, and Brian, among others. The rest of the cast includes Alex Borstein, Mila Kunis, Seth Green, and Mike Henry. The show’s recent two-season pick-up and renewal through 2025 by 20th Television Animation ensures that the cast and crew will continue their journey, possibly culminating in a movie one day.
