A giant carp, that weighs about the same as a ten-year-old has been caught in Champagne, France.
The huge 67-pound fish was pulled out of BlueWater Lakes by a British fisherman.
Twenty years ago, the carp fishery put out The Carrot, which is now one of the biggest carp in the world.
Andy Hackett, from Worcestershire, UK, was lucky enough to find the fish. It took him 25 minutes to catch the giant creature.
The man from Kidderminster said at the time that he knew The Carrot was in there, but he never thought he would catch it.
He took a few pictures with his catch before putting it safely back into the lake.
Since the carp has been free to swim around in open water for so many years, she has grown to an incredible size and weight.
The average boy who is 10 years old weighs between 53 and 109 pounds, while this huge fish weighs 67 pounds.
Carp have been caught that were even bigger than that. A mirror carp caught in Hungary weighed 112 pounds, and a Siamese carp caught in southern Thailand weighed a whopping 232 pounds.
Hackett, 42, said of his catch:
I knew it was a big fish when it took my bait and went off side to side and up and down with it. Then it came to the surface 30 or 40 yards out and I saw that it was orange.
It was brilliant to catch it but it was also sheer luck.
Carrot was hard to find but her bright orange color, like that of a goldfish, made it easier to find her.
Hackett told the BBC:
With normal fish, you struggle to see them if they’re just under the surface, but The Carrot is obviously bright orange so you can’t miss it.
Just like a general big fish, they’re heavy, they’re slow, they plod around.
Fisher manager Jason Cowler added:
We put The Carrot in about 20 years ago as something different for the customers to fish for. Since then it has grown and grown but it doesn’t often come out. She is very elusive.
She is in excellent health and condition. Congratulations to Andy on a great catch.
