Jada Pinkett Smith admits that she had a relationship with singer August Alsina while married to Will Smith during a bombshell tell-all confessional.
The 48-year-old sat with her husband for a Facebook show, Red Table Talk, for an intimate conversation. That’s where she disclosed to her husband about her secret relationship.
She said that she and August were friends for almost four years. During that time she and Will were going through some tough time in their relationship and were basically broken up.
This confession came as a shock because recently both of them denied August’s claim that Will gave him his blessings to have a relationship with Jada.
In the episode, the couple sat in front of each other to have an honest talk. They tried to set the record straight and breathe a new life into their relationship.
Jada explained that she met August through her son, Jaden, and recalled that the singer, who was 23 then, was sick.
Jada Pinkett Smith said:
And it all started with him just needing some help, me wanting to help his health, his mental state
She said, “The outpouring for him from our family was initially about his health. We found all those different resources to help pull him through and from there you and I were going through a very difficult time.”
Replying to her confession, Will said, “I was done with you.” Jada added that they separated for a brief period too.
Smith insisted his wife continue talking. She said, “As time went on, I got into a different type of entanglement with August.”
Jada explained her side on August’s claim that Will gave his permission to have an affair. She insisted, “The only person that can give permission in that circumstance is myself.”
“But what August was probably trying to communicate because I could see how he could see it as permission because we were separated amicably, and I think he wanted to make it clear he’s not a homewrecker because he’s not.”
Jada continued:
I was in a lot of pain, and I was very broken. In the process of that relationship, I definitely realized that you can’t find happiness outside yourself.
She said that the couple was under healing process.
I just wanted to feel good, It had been so long since I felt good… and it was really a joy to just help heal somebody.
Jade added: “Through that particular journey, I learned so much about myself and was able to really confront a lot of emotional immaturities, emotional insecurity and I was really able to do some really deep healing.
“And as I came through and started to realize certain things about you and I, he decided to break all communication with me which was totally understandable.
“And I let that be and hadn’t talked to him since, so it is a little weird that all this stuff is coming out now since this was several [years ago].’
Will mentioned: “For me, this was years ago. We have really gotten to that new place of unconditional love.”
August Alsina Explains His Relationship With Jada Pinkett Smith
August Alsina told The Breakfast Club’s Angela Yee that he was in love with Jada, 48, and said:
“I sat down with Will and had a conversation due to the transformation from their marriage to life partnership… he gave me his blessing.”
August also said that they both came very close and went on a holiday together with their families in Hawaii a year later. Also, they attended the 2017 BET Awards together.
August Alsina said, “I totally gave myself to that relationship for years of my life, and I truly and really, really deeply love and have a ton of love for her.”
Jada Pinkett Smith has been married to Will Smith since 1997. They have a son, Jaden, and a daughter, Willow, together. Will has another son, Trey Smith, from his marriage with Sheree Zampino.
Previously, the rumors were that Jada and Will are in an open relationship and are likely to be divorced. To this Jada said a sharp no.
There’s some healing that needs to happen… so I’m bringing myself to The Red Table.
During the Red Table Talk, Smith hinted the viewers that he had an affair of his own.
Will said the couple had made mistakes without fear of losing their family.
“We came together young and we were both broken in our own ways. To be able to make mistakes without fear of losing your family is so critical,” he said.
One of the users wrote on social media, “Make mistakes” = cheat on one another. Let’s get reals.”
‘Will Smith getting through this discussion without acknowledging the women he’s been with since he & Jada have been on a break,’ tweeted another.
