Daughter of Bob Marley’s, Cedella Marley, has helped the Reggae Girlz to gain some support.
In 2014, in order to help the Jamaica’s women’s national team to gain some financial support Rita Marley and Cedella Marley became an ambassador for the team.
The Reggae Girlz has made history on the island and beyond by qualifying for the World Cup.
The history was made on Wednesday after the victory that came of a penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw against Panama’s women’s national team. However, the Panamanian team still has a chance to qualify for the cup if they win against Argentina in the match that has been scheduled in the next month.
FIFA Women’s World Cup has been scheduled to be held in France next year. The Reggae Girlz has become the first team from the Caribbean to enter the World Cup, said FIFA.
This victory was celebrated with the players singing the Jamaica’s national anthem.
