James Cordon has decided to sell his $9.7 million home in Los Angeles because of the backlash he got for being rude to restaurant staff.
Recently, the British comedian’s home in Brentwood was visited by the real estate agent Alicia Drake and the star of Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles, James Harris. This happened just two days after the owner of the restaurant, Keith McNally, called out the British performer.
In a later interview with DailyMail.com, Drake said “without a doubt” that the house is for sale.
‘It won’t be listed – it’s a private sale,’ she said.
Some exclusive photos show Harris, a 38-year-old celebrity realtor, leaving the $9.7 million property with Drake, who was wearing a black minidress, and another woman whose name is not known.
According to her bio on The Agency, Drake is “one of the best brokers on the Westside of Los Angeles.” In her bio, it also says that she has handled “unique and difficult situations with discretion.”
‘She is committed to delivering the highest level of ethics, integrity, personal service, professional representation and technical expertise, ensuring that every client is thrilled with the outcome and comfortable throughout the entire process.’
Harris, who is 38 years old, told sources that he was at the house for a social visit and that his wife, Valeria, is close friends with Julia, who is 46 years old and Corden’s producer wife.
Also, he said he wasn’t there when the property was listed or appraised, and a second source said: ‘There really is nothing in it. It was just a social thing.’
Friends of James Corden, 44, have said that he wants to move back to his home country of Britain “to be closer to family.” In July, the co-founder of his production company, Fulwell 73, Ben Turner, told Variety that he was “really excited to get James back in the UK.” Friends of Corden have said that he wants to move back to his home country of Britain “to be closer to family.”
Corden is expected to finish filming his last series of The Late Late Show in the spring, and Turner told the magazine the following: ‘[Corden] has just got so many strings to his bow, and ‘Late’ is a big commitment that’s taken up so much of his time.
‘We’re just really excited about having him back in the UK., and all the stuff that that entails, but it is a big moment for us.’
Before moving into his $9.7 million, five-bedroom Brentwood home that he bought in 2017, Corden lived in a mansion in Pacific Palisades that he rented.
The luxurious home has seven bathrooms, a media room, a private gym, and a library with wood-paneled walls. There is also 8,600 square feet of living space in the house.
Harris, who is also British, has a lot of experience selling expensive real estate on the market. In 2019, he and David Parnes helped sell Petra Ecclestone’s old home, which was called “The Manor,” for $120 million.
After the deal was done, the large property, which was built by producer Aaron Spelling, was ranked as the sixth most expensive home ever sold in LA County.
In the same year, Harris and Parnes were involved in the sale of a massive apartment that had previously belonged to Cher. Harris and Parnes have sold more than $3 billion worth of homes since 2017.
Harris and Parnes would say that Corden’s house is on the smaller side, but the Brentwood property is similar to other homes they have listed and sold in the past.
Harris’s visit came at a bad time for the comedian’s reputation. He once called Keith McNally, the British owner of the high-end New York restaurant Balthazar, “a tiny cretin of a man,” which hurt his reputation. The comedian’s reputation was getting worse when Harris came to see him.
McNally said in a series of angry posts on social media on Monday that the comedian had verbally abused servers on two separate occasions. He also said that he was going to “86” or kick Corden out of his place.
McNally says that one of Corden’s rants happened when he found a hair in his food. This made him demand free drinks and threaten to write bad reviews on Yelp, McNally says. McNally said that Corden’s outburst happened after he found the hair.
On the second occasion, Corden lost it when his wife Julia, who is 46, was served an omelet with egg yolks and a little bit of egg white. Julia said that she had tasted the egg white.
After that, Corden called McNally to apologize for what he had done, but he later rekindled the fight by giving an interview to the New York Times, which came out recently. He said in the interview that the drama was “below me” and that he hadn’t done anything wrong.
He also let the newspaper know that he didn’t like the backlash by saying: ‘I feel so Zen about the whole thing.
‘Because I think it’s so silly. I just think it’s beneath all of us. It’s beneath you. It’s certainly beneath your publication.’
He went on to say that the way the media handled his bad behavior was like a teacher helping a bully in the classroom.
‘The principal makes the decision to stand up and say, ‘I’d like all of those bullies to come up onto the stage and say, into the microphone, what they’ve just been saying in the hallway over there.’
After the interview, McNally sent a response in which he asked Corden to apologize to the servers he had treated badly.
On Friday, he wrote a message on Instagram that said: ‘I have no wish to kick a man when he’s down, but I believe the best way for James Corden to retrieve some of the vast respect the public had for him before this incident is to own up to it and apologize to the young servers he abused.’
He added: ‘Whatever Corden meant, his implication was clear: he didn’t do it.’
The owner of the restaurant ended his rant by saying that Corden could eat for free at Balthazar for the next 10 years if he apologized to the two servers he had insulted. This statement surprised Corden a lot.
