Jason’s daughter has now shared a heartfelt tribute to her father, who was an actor and a star in the mixed martial arts industry. Fans continue to mourn the loss of Jason David Frank, who was a star in both of these fields.
It was revealed two weeks ago that the actor, who was perhaps best known to fans for his portrayal of Tommy Oliver in the Power Rangers franchise, had passed away at the age of 49. This news came as a shock to fans.
Frank’s widow disclosed the circumstances surrounding her husband’s passing in an interview with PEOPLE that was conducted exclusively with the publication. She stated the following:
My name is Tammie Frank, and my husband was Jason David Frank, who tragically lost his life to suicide just last week.
While Jason was a well-known name to some, we lived a very normal life with ups and downs, just like anyone else. It has shocked and saddened me beyond belief to see that the media has turned my family’s tragedy into a tall tale.
Tammie Frank went on to add:
The truth is, I had no idea that Jason was thinking of ending things. Yes, he had struggled with mental health issues and depression before, but I could never predict what would happen that night.
It was meant to be a fun weekend getaway, and instead, I lost the love of my life. Jason was a good man, but he was not without his demons. He was human, just like the rest of us.
Now, Frank’s daughter has taken to social media in order to pen yet another heartbreaking tribute to the beloved Power Rangers star.
Jenna Frank wrote the following in the caption of a carousel of photographs that she shared, all of which showed her father and daughter spending time together throughout her life:
Dear Dad,
I never thought I would see this day ..especially not this soon.
The mourning daughter continued:
You are more than my dad, You are my Bestfriend.
Jenna continued by stating that her father and she did “literally” everything together, including everything from traveling the world to laughing and crying together.
I am so so broken,
she writes, before adding:
I love you more than I could ever describe You are the light of my world. The reason why I push so hard. You have taught me so many things. You have touched and healed so many people. The whole world loves you.
To see the impact [he] had on the world makes me the happiest person ever. You are now my biggest guardian Angel. we love you pops until we meet again.
Following his debut as the Green Ranger in the first season of Power Rangers, which aired in 1993, he would later transform into the White Ranger and join the Power Rangers as a result of the popularity he garnered from the show’s viewers.
As a member of the show’s main cast, Frank was featured in a total of 123 episodes over the course of the show’s run.
After that, Frank would go on to make appearances in a variety of Power Rangers programming, including television shows, movies, and video games within the franchise. The names Wild Force, Turbo, Zeo, Dino Thunder, Megaforce, Ninja Steel, and HyperForce were among those that were available. In addition, throughout the course of his character arc, Frank would, in addition to putting on the costumes of the White and Green Rangers, also put on the Black and Red Rangers’ outfits.
As an athlete, Frank was proficient in a wide variety of mixed martial arts, earning multiple belts in each of those disciplines. These included a black belt in Shotokan Karate (eighth dan), a black belt in Taekwondo, a black belt in Judeo, and a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
In the world of mixed martial arts (MMA), Frank made his long-awaited debut in January 2010, when he defeated Jonathon “The Mack Truck” Mack in the first round of their match.
During this difficult time, we will continue to keep Frank’s family in our thoughts and prayers.
