Jason Momoa is (almost) putting it all out there.
The Aquaman actor, Jason Momoa, was on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday. The show’s host, Jimmy Kimmel, took a moment to show Momoa and the audience a photo that Momoa, 43, recently posted on Instagram of himself wearing a beige piece of clothing that looked like a thong while he was out fishing.
“That’s a traditional malo, it’s what the Hawaiians wear,” Momoa told Kimmel, explaining that he has been wearing it while preparing to film his upcoming Apple TV+ show Chief of War.
Momoa said that he wears the malo every day for the series, which he said is set in Hawaii in the late 1800s.
“I was just getting ready for the role, cause I like to get into character, and so I was tanning my white ass,” the actor told Kimmel. “It was a second — you go past and he just happened to take a little photo.”
Kimmel made a joke that the fish in the ocean must feel betrayed when Aquaman fishes for them. He then asked: “And that’s comfortable?”
“Oh my God, yes. I actually don’t even like wearing clothes anymore,” Momoa replied. “I’m in it every day. I wear it all the time.”
When Kimmel asked Momoa if he was wearing the malo under his clothes during their interview, the actor got up and started taking off his clothes until he was only wearing the traditional thong-like clothing, showing his behind to the talk show host and his audience.
In October, Momoa shared a video on his Instagram Story of him wearing the malo while reeling in a fish. In another picture that was posted, the actor was posing with a friend while each of them held up their own catches.
During the trip, Momoa also posted a picture of himself “catching rainbows” in a Mananalu water bottle. “Help stop single use plastic water bottles and please recycle,” he wrote alongside the pic. “All my aloha.”
The upcoming movie Slumberland, starring Momoa, will be released on Netflix on November 18.
