Jenny Slate, also known as Jenny Sarah Slate, was born on March 25, 1982, in Milton, Massachusetts. Her mother, Nancy, was a homemaker and good at pottery.
Her father, Ron, was a top employee at EMC Corporation and the CEO of a biotech and life sciences company. Ron is also an author, having written “The Incentive of the Maggot” and “The Great Wave,” and collaborated with Jenny on the memoir “About the House” in 2016.
Slate was raised in a Jewish family alongside her older sister Abigail and younger sister Stacey. She was the valedictorian of Milton Academy. Following her high school graduation, Jenny pursued a literature degree at Columbia University.

In 2008, Slate and Liedman joined forces as the comedy duo Gabe & Jenny. Their collaboration, along with Max Silvestri, resulted in the acclaimed “Big Terrific” stand-up show, which was recognized as the top new variety show by “Time Out New York.” However, due to their hectic schedules, they decided to end their performances of “Big Terrific” in 2015.
In 2008 and 2009, Jenny Slate performed “Dead Millionaire” at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in NYC. She also had a recurring role in the 7th Floor West skit on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and appeared on Important Things with Demetri Martin Brothers and Bored to Death.
