In today’s NBA, versatile defensive wings are crucial to win the title. The Cleveland Cavaliers had a strong roster, but despite that, they lacked a reliable wing player in the last Season.
The Cavaliers made additions like Max Struss and George Niang, but there was still room to improve the roster. Some NBA Insiders suggested that the Cavaliers should trade Jermi Grant as he could fill the gap.
The Jerami Grant Trade Proposal
- The Portland Trail Blazers will receive the guard-forward Max Struss, the guard-forward Isaac Okoro, the guard Ricky Rubio, and a 2030 First-Round Draft Pick.
- In return, the Cleveland Cavaliers will receive the forward Jerami Grant.
Damian Lillard’s trade request doesn’t change Portland’s intention to sign Jerami Grant to the 5-year, $160 million contract agreed upon Friday, sources tell ESPN. Free agent deals can’t be formalized and signed until July 6.

Even though all teams know the importance of having a wing player on their roster, many teams, like the Trail Blazers, have been missing out and paying the price. Maybe that is the reason why the Trail Blazers are eyeing multiple wing players.
Why The Portland Trail Blazers Want This Trade Deal?
It is a little difficult to know Jerami Grant’s value this time. While he is a great player, his long contract with the Trail Blazers is a concern for other teams.

The Trail Blazers will acquire Okoro in exchange for Jeremy Grant, who is a young player and has had some ups and downs in the league. As of now, he is struggling with his shooting ability, but since he is learning, there is always a scope for improvement.
If Okoro’s shooting skills improve, he could add great value to the team. He could be a good 3-and-D player, as he can defend and shoot from 3s.
Besides acquiring Okoro, the Trail Blazers will also swap a future draft pick of 2030, which is far away, but the draft pick is still valuable.
