The Jets have signed their playmaker, Le’Veon Bell . Free agent and Gang Green got a deal right with Le’Veon Bell after midnight for him to join the Jets, as per a source.
Star Le’Veon Bell to Sign with Jets
The deal struck is for 4 years and for about $52.5 million, which is below many predictions of many, after Le’Veon Bell had to sit out on the bench with the Steelers. As reported by ESPN, the deal was valued at maximum $61 million with $35 million that’s guaranteed. The deal won’t be termed official until 4 PM on Wednesday.
The Jets were seen as leaders for Le’Veon Bell initially, but it looked like Bell was anticipating something better but it never happened. While he was held firm by The Jets with their offer, the news of Le’Veon Bell picking Jets finally came out.
“I’m back in the green baby, let’s get it,” Le’Veon Bell posted on Twitter.
Bell Signed up a Less-Expected Amount
The 27-year old gives them a threat at coming back that Jets haven’t since the time of Thomas Jones almost a decade ago. Fans are expecting Bell to give the team the jolt they need. It was once tweeted by Bell that wouldn’t come to Jets for just $60 million. He later changed his price and quoted at least $100 million for him to play for Jets.
Earlier last year, Bell denied an offer by Steelers that was for $70 million, which averages $14 million a year. Bell didn’t take that offer and had to sit out for the whole season. As he sat down, fans were expecting him to return at least $15 million for a year. However, that didn’t happen and Le’Veon Bell was signed at $13.125 million per season.
Star Le’Veon Bell: Talented but Notorious
There is also a lot of worry surrounding Bell. He is aged just 27 and has 1,229 rushes and a total of 312 catches. But he has also faced suspension twice as he violated the drug abuse policy.
However, we aren’t denying his talent. He has rushed 1200 yards thrice and caught the ball 75 times in 2016 and 85 times in 2017.
