Jim Carrey is the latest famous person to leave Twitter after Elon Musk took the company public.
Musk, who is 51 years old, bought the social media platform for $44 billion in October. Since then, the business mogul has been in the spotlight a lot.
The 51-year-old man who calls himself “Chief Twit” has always said that he’s the right person for the job, even when he’s been criticized for firing people or giving his employees “insane rules of productivity.”
The most controversial thing he has done may be letting people back on Twitter who had been banned for breaking the rules.
People like Kanye West, who was banned for allegedly making anti-Semitic comments, and Donald Trump, who was once president, have been let back on the site, which has made other users angry.
In response to this, a number of celebrities have jumped ship, no longer wanting to be on the social media platform.
Jim Carrey, who is 60 years old, is the latest big name to say he is leaving. He did so in typical Jim Carrey style.
The beloved actor tweeted:
I’m leaving Twitter, but 1st here’s a cartoon I made with my friend Jimmy Hayward. It’s based on my painting of a crazy old Lighthouse Keeper, standing naked in a storm, summoning the angels and shining his lamp to guide us through a treacherous night. I love you all so much!

The message comes with a strange video of a topless lighthouse keeper singing into the night while stormy weather is going on around him.
The star of “The Truman Show” doesn’t say why he’s leaving the site, but he has spoken out against people like Trump on the site in the past.
People had different reactions to Carrey’s tweet. One person tweeted:
Thank You for all the great memories. Mr.Carrey,
whilst others argued that celebrities should stop announcing that they are leaving.
Grammy-winning singer Sara Bareilles is among the other stars who have left the site.
Welp. It’s been fun Twitter. I’m out. See you on other platforms, peeps. Sorry, this one’s just not for me.

Mick Foley, a wrestler, said on Facebook:
The misinformation and hate [Twitter] seems to be encouraging – has my stomach in a knot.
