It looks like Hollywood is not ready to work with Johnny Depp as of now. An insider has explained that big-time Hollywood people who make things happen are being cautious of the actor. Depp was freshly gotten out of a highly publicized trial involving his ex-wife Amber Heard. Depp emerged victorious and cleared his name. However, Heard claimed that she was physically abused by Depp and it looks like his image is stained. But the problems began when the ‘Donny Brasco’ actor was knees-deep into drugs and alcohol. Now, the man behind the Pirates of the Caribbean wants to cast Depp as Jack Sparrow once again but it seems tough.
Renowned movie producer Jerry Bruckheimer explained that he wants Johnny Depp in the sixth edition of his Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. He explained that Depp is the most obvious but least likely choice at the moment. Jerry thinks that the actor is not being redeemed by Hollywood. He said, “I would love to have him in the movie. He’s a friend, a terrific actor, and it’s unfortunate the personal lives creep into everything we do.” Johnny Depp played Captin Jack Sparrow, the lead, in the first five installments of the franchise. Jerry is responsible for record-breaking movies like Top Gun, Bad Boys, Black Hawk Down, and more.
Hollywood is not ready for Johnny Depp claims insider
Jerry goes on, “I think he will have a career but I don’t see him being redeemed. I think big-name people in Hollywood will steer clear of him.” Back then, Hollywood producer, consultant, and advisor Kathryn Arnold reflected on Depp’s work ethic. She took the stand and testified, “We talked about the erratic behavior, the tardiness, the drugs and alcohol abuse. And the lawsuits have had a really big impact, not just this lawsuit but previous lawsuits that Mr. Depp has been involved with because there’s a lot of publicity around anything he does.”
Another source claims, “There are different levels of shunning. [Depp] is not at the Kevin Spacey level. My guess is that he is more in the Mel Gibson range. The international audience will be happy to see him in things and probably a lot of people in the United States as well. But I can tell you something about both of those guys [Depp and Gibson]. If you bring them up in the dominant studio world [as candidates to anchor a film], it is not a no, but it is a question: ‘Who else do you have?’”
The source predicted, “He’ll continue to do movies financed in the international market, financed with foreign production companies. The deals will come from people who are third or fourth tier. They show up with a lot of money and it all goes to the star. You saw that at the end of Bruce Willis’s career. You see that in terms of John Travolta.” Depp was awarded $10 million in damages. Post the trial, he went on a tour with his band and was also seen in a Dior commercial.
