Lots of people are following the court hearings online or in the courtroom itself, as the trial of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard has been at the forefront of the news media. It has been quite the show so far, with jokes about flying non-stop and asking if I read it right. We don’t know how the scales of justice will lean.
We don’t know for certain, but we know that Johnny Depp’s fans have gone above and beyond to offer him support. One of them brought a pair of animals in hopes of making him happy. That’s right, you read that.
I won’t be talking about the specifics of the trial. If you would like to read more about the allegations from both sides, you can find the article here. We should go meet the alpacas.
In the third week of the Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard, the fans of the former have been sending their support.
Many people have come to Fairfax, Virginia to support Johnny Depp during his defamation trial against Amber Heard, who accused him of physical and sexual abuse in a Washington Post article. His name was stained in the tabloids and he lost a number of cinematic opportunities, including the Fantastic Beasts and the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
On the fifth day of testimony, on April 19th, Depp took the witness stand and called Heard’s claims “heinous,” “disturbing” and “not based in any species of truth”. The outcome of the case is still up in the air, as well as Heard’s own testimony, which is due in the next few weeks.
There was a sign on the neck of the alpacas that read “Justice for Johnnie”.
The trial has been watched by many people, some even making trips to Virginia in order to catch a glimpse of the stars, but not everyone brings a pair of alpacas to court. Two animals, named Dolce and Inti, were standing outside the courtroom with their owner.
The brown and marbled alpacas, wearing colorful neck ornaments and scarves, seemed to be at ease, picking at the grass next to the court building. The man was wearing a sign around his neck. There might be a mistake, but it is the thought that counts.
She was too excited to notice the small hiccup on the sign, she had always been used to writing the name, Johnnie. She had the sign up for 5 minutes before realizing it was too late as the pictures were taken and the interview was filmed. However, she apologized and kept her spirits high.
She told The Washington Post: “I thought the alpacas might brighten his day.” She believed that they were there to support Johnny Depp because he was going through a lot.
It is not clear if the actor was aware of the two animals as he entered and exited the courthouse through a gated black entrance each day.
It is not clear if Johnny Depp has seen the two furry friends, but it seems as though his attorney has.
$300 million and a million animals. The words you never thought to hear in a courtroom are here.
On Wednesday, April 20, he asked Johnny Depp this: “The fact is, Mr. Depp if Disney came to you with $300 million and a million alpacas, nothing on this earth would get you to go back and work with Disney on a ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ film? Correct?” Depp replied, “That is true, Mr. Rottenborn.” You wonder what goes on in someone’s mind to ask that, but I guess it’s got its purpose, as it seems Johnny used similar wording in a prior interview. The animals seem to be following him.
At that particular moment, when she was listening to the question outside the courtroom, she thought to herself that it was funny: “We’re not Disney, though, so he can totally come to pet these guys!”
According to The Washington Post, during the Pandemic, she started a business called “My Pet Alpaca” to bring friendly animals to kids to raise their spirits, hoping she could do the same for Johnny Depp.
She hoped she could do the same for Johnny Depp as she did for kids.
The support train had two animals on it the next day.
Andrea believes that Johnny will win: “ He deserves justice after all this time. It must be horrible to have your life exposed like this for the world to see.” She didn’t want to comment much on Amber, but it doesn’t seem likely for Andrea to believe her testimony, as she told that “her lawyers seem to be all over the place and not have any evidence.”
She finished the interview with a message to Johnny, saying: “I hope everything goes well, we’re here for you.”
There was a sign that said “Love and support for Johnny” on the TikTok video that was posted by Andrea. Devoted fans have been there for the star from the very beginning and it seems they are not going anywhere soon.
The latest banner says, “We’re with you, Johnny”.
The trial of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard continues. On Monday, April 26, the lawyer for Depp asked her final question to the actor: “What did you say in response when Ms. Heard said ‘tell the world, Johnny, tell them I, Johnny Depp, a man, am a victim too of domestic violence?’” Depp replied: “I said yes, I am.” We hope that he gets justice in the case.
