Early Life
After an impressive junior year at Nathan Hale High School (Seattle, Wash.) in the 2016-17 season, Porter moved up to Mizzou’s 2017-18 squad from the 2018 recruiting class. He played a crucial role in his team’s undefeated 29-0 record and their victory in the Washington Class 3A State Championship.
During his junior year, he achieved a double-double average of 14.3 points and 13.6 rebounds while playing for Nathan Hale under the guidance of head coach Brandon Roy.
Before jumping to the collegiate level, Jontay Porter was recognized as one of the best junior players in the country, earning a ranking as high as 11th overall in his class by ESPN. He was also ranked in the Top 25 by Rivals.com (12th) and 247Sports (23rd).

Jontay Porter, who shared the 2017-18 SEC Sixth Man of the Year Award, decided to explore his options for the NBA Draft. However, he withdrew from the draft before the deadline and chose to continue his sophomore year at Mizzou.
During his first year as a rookie, he played in all 33 games and started in seven of them. He had an average of 9.9 points and was the top rebounder (6.8 rpg) and blocker (55) for the Tigers. He was also one of five Tigers who played in every game during the 2017-18 season.
In the SEC, Porter ranked sixth in rebounding (leading all freshman players) with 6.8 rebounds per game, ninth in blocks (1.7 bspg), and third in defensive rebounds (5.3 drpg).

He later joined the Denver Nuggets for the 2022 NBA Summer League. The Toronto Raptors and Porter entered a two-way contract on December 9, 2023.
