Jordan Fish is a musician from Britain who plays the keyboard, writes songs, and produces music. He is most recognized for his role as the keyboardist, supporting vocalist and producer for the English rock group Bring Me the Horizon, until he left in 2023.
Fish was featured on five studio albums with the band, including Sempiternal (2013), That’s the Spirit (2015), Amo (2019), Post Human: Survival Horror (2020), and Post Human: Nex Gen (2024). Before joining the band, he was a part of Proxies and Worship from 2010 to 2013.
Early Life
Jordan Fish was born on June 26, 1986, in England. Due to his mother, he was exposed to a heavy dose of soul music, including artists such as Whitney Houston and Luther Vandross, at a young age. However, his interest in rock music didn’t emerge until he reached the age of twelve.
By the time he turned fourteen, Fish was already playing in a nu-metal band. During his college years, he delved into electronic music, joining forces with a few friends to casually experiment and gain knowledge in the genre.
Jordan Fish’s Musical Career
Jordan Fish was a member of the band Miles Dark, which started in Newbury, Berkshire in 2005. The group disbanded in 2007 after releasing three EPs: Parts of a Picture, On a Threadwire, and A Reason In Itself.
In 2010, Jordan Fish and Joseph Todd formed Proxies unexpectedly. Todd reached out to Fish and proposed collaborating on a song. They then brought on Alex James Binnington and Fish’s friend Josh. The group quickly gained a fan base online and eventually released their first EP, Lost Tapes Vol. 1.
In March 2012, the band released their first single, “If I Had a Penny to My Name,” which includes a collaboration with Sean Smith from The Blackout.
They have also performed on tour with Kids in Glass Houses, Hadouken, Canterbury, and Patrick Stump from Fall Out Boy. Additionally, the band was the main act at HMV’s Next Big Thing event in February 2012.
In addition, Fish joined forces with Tim Alexander, James Johnson, and Tom Mayo to create a band named Worship. In this band, Fish took on the roles of both bassist and keyboardist.
Their initial track, “Collateral,” was uploaded to YouTube in November 2010. In October 2011, the group unveiled their first single, “House of Glass.” Their album, Nothing Is Sacred, featuring tracks recorded by the band from 2010 to 2013, was also released.
In 2012, Jordan Fish joined forces with Bring Me the Horizon to collaborate on their fourth album, Sempiternal, as a session musician.
Oli Sykes, a fan of Fish’s previous band, extended an invitation for him to incorporate electronic elements into the album. Fish was actively involved in the recording process and assisted with writing, as well as providing electronic contributions to the album.
Despite being involved in the creation of the album, he was never formally recognized as a member of the band. However, he did join them on tour to promote Sempiternal. At the beginning of 2013, Fish departed from Worship and became an official member of Bring Me the Horizon.
Alternative Press recognized Jordan Fish as the Keyboardist of the Year in December 2013. In September 2015, the band dropped their fifth record, That’s the Spirit, which was overseen by Fish. During the production process, he believed that the band had the creative freedom to experiment with various musical genres.
On 25 January 2019, the band released their sixth studio album, Amo, which was also produced by Fish. This album achieved the top spot on the UK Albums Chart.
Towards the end of 2023, Fish went on a break from touring with his band, leading fans to speculate that he was busy creating their new album, Post Human: Nex Gen.
However, on 22 December 2023, the band revealed that they were separating from Jordan Fish. After leaving the band, Fish started working on fresh music and also contributed to the recording process for Canadian heavy metal group, Spiritbox.
Personal Life
Jordan Fish and his wife, Emma, have been married for some time and have two children. In August 2016, Fish and Sykes embarked on a climb up Mount Kilimanjaro to raise funds for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Southampton Hospital.
This fundraiser was in support of their son, Eliot, who had previously experienced a brain hemorrhage. The campaign was successful, raising over £50,000. Fortunately, as of 2023, Eliot is doing well.
