Career
In a move to acquire the 20th overall pick, the Chicago Bears traded with the New York Giants, receiving their fifth-round pick in 2021 and their first and fourth-round picks in 2022. As a result, the Chicago Bears selected Fields as their eleventh overall choice in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Justin Fields, who was chosen as one of the top five quarterbacks in the first round, was highly regarded as a top prospect in the draft. On June 10, 2021, he inked a rookie contract worth $18.8 million, which was fully guaranteed, for four years.
Although Fields was initially assigned as the backup quarterback to Andy Dalton, he made his first appearance in the National Football League during the season opener against the Los Angeles Rams.
The next week, Fields achieved his first career start with a win against the Detroit Lions, scoring 24-14. Out of 17 attempts, he completed 11, accumulating 209 yards, but also had one interception caused by a deflected pass.
Following his selection as the starting quarterback for the remainder of the season, Justin Fields guided the Bears to a triumph against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 5. He completed 12 of 20 passes for 111 yards and made his first touchdown pass to tight end Jesper Horsted. The Bears emerged victorious with a score of 20-9.
In the first game of the 2022 season, Fields led the Dallas Cowboys to a victory over the San Francisco 49ers by a score of 19–10. He finished with 121 yards passing, two touchdowns, and an interception.

During the beginning of the third quarter, Fields sustained a shoulder and thumb injury from a sack by Danielle Hunter. This led to him being substituted by Tyson Bagent, a rookie who was not selected in the draft, for the rest of the game. Unfortunately, the Bears were defeated 19-13, causing their overall record to drop to 1-5.
