Kanye West said that he was the one who came up with the idea for the 2012 movie Django Unchained, which was directed by Quentin Tarantino.
In an interview with controversial figure Piers Morgan recently, the rapper who officially changed his name to “Ye” last year said that he had pitched the idea for the slavery-themed Western as the idea for the music video for his song “Gold Digger.”
“The idea for ‘Django’ I pitched to [actor] Jamie Foxx and Quentin Tarantino as the video for ‘Gold Digger,’” Kanye said, referring to his 2005 hit song. “And then Tarantino turned it into a film.”
The main character of Django Unchained is a former slave (Jamie Foxx) who, with the help of a German bounty hunter, goes on a mission to save his wife (Kerry Washington) from a cruel plantation owner in Mississippi (Leonardo DiCaprio) (played by Christoph Waltz).
Kanye’s accusations haven’t been answered in public by either Tarantino or Foxx yet.
This is a shock after hearing that Kanye had hired Johnny Depp’s lawyer, Camille Vasquez.
Reports say that the musician who wrote the hit song “Praise God” has hired a team of lawyers to help him with “a variety of business matters.” Camille Vasquez, the famous lawyer who became famous when she defended Johnny Depp in his defamation trial this summer, is one of the experts he is talking to.
The law firm Brown Rudnick, where Vasquez is a partner, says that the team will help West with his legal issues. CBS News got this information from a source.
They didn’t give any details about the things that he would be getting help with.
Anyone who watched Johnny Depp’s multimillion-dollar defamation trial earlier this year will immediately recognize Vasquez, who went viral for relentlessly questioning his ex-wife, Amber Heard, on the witness stand. The case was settled out of court for an amount that can’t be said.
Fans even thought for a while that Depp and Vasquez might have more than just a professional relationship. They pointed out how friendly they looked in court and thought that this might be the case because of how they interacted with each other.
But after helping the Pirates of the Caribbean star win his trial, it seems like Vasquez is now focusing her efforts on helping another famous person.
Recently, the “Stronger” singer said things that seemed to imply that George Floyd’s death was caused by drugs. This put him in a tough spot with Floyd’s family.
West said the following to the hosts of the Drink Champs podcast, which has since been taken down: “I watched the George Floyd documentary that Candace Owens put out,” per ABC News.
“One of the things that his two roommates said was they want a tall guy like me, and the day that he died, he said a prayer for eight minutes,” West continued, adding: “They hit him with the fentanyl. If you look, the guy’s knee wasn’t even on his neck like that.”
