The shoe line of the pop-singer recently launched The Rue Face Slip-On Loafers and the high-heeled Ora Face Block Heel Sandal. These products feature blue eyes, triangles noses and red lips on a black background which resembles a blackface.
This is the reason why these pairs which are supposed to be a distinct shoe line comes under the intense scrutiny of the public.

The controversy related the shoes comes just after a week or so of Gucci, the Italian luxury brand of fashion and leather castigation. Gucci was severely reprimanded for selling sweaters that resembled blackface. The Italian brand was then condemned on social media.

Fans took to various social media platforms like Twitter to rebuke the shoe line collection. Some called it ignorance and stated that ignorance cannot be a fashion statement and that they will not accept the apology by her.

Response of Katy Perry’s company to criticisms
In response to the criticisms, the company has yanked the pairs off their stores and online selling platforms.
The Rue Face Slip-On Loafers along with the high-heeled Ora Face Block Heel Sandal were available in either black or beige and sold for $129. The company is now removing them from shelves and taking them off the company’s website.

The singer express her sadness. Katy Perry says she was saddened when she got to know that the shoes were being compared to black faces. Katy Perry further stated that the company had no intention to inflict any sort of pain. She also added that the company has removed them immediately from their collection.
