Keanu Reeves is one of the most beloved Hollywood actors and his ever-growing fandom is proof of that. The John Wick actor is reportedly confirmed to join the Star Wars universe. According to the latest info, Keanu Reeves has shot a scene for the upcoming Star Wars: The Acolyte series.
Keanu Reeves To Star In Star Wars: The Acolyte?
The Star Wars series has given its fans many celebrity cameos throughout the years. While Keanu Reeves has been speculated to be a part of the Star Wars universe for quite some time, he may finally join the franchise in the upcoming Disney+ series. Over the years, The Matrix star has been rumoured to play Sith King Valar or Sith Lord Darth Revan. Although, if Reeves makes a cameo in Star Wars: The Acolyte, the possibility of Reeves playing a significant role in the franchise will surely die down.
According to Giant Freakin Robot, Keanu Reeves is reported to play a cameo role in the highly-anticipated series. The Acolyte is set in the High Republic Era which will take fans back in time before the events of the prequel films. While the news of Keanu Reeves’ presence in the series is exciting, true Star Wars fans know that if he’s going to make a cameo appearance we may not even catch a proper glimpse of him. In the past, Hollywood stars such as Daniel Craig, Tom Hardy, Simon Pegg, Sofia Coppola, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Karl Urban, etc., have played cameo roles in the series. However, the roles they’ve portrayed have hardly been recognizable due to CGI and FX makeup.
Star Wars: The Acolyte Plot & Cast
The Acolyte series will show a former Padawan reuniting with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes where they encounter unforeseen sinister forces. The official cast includes Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-Jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Charlie Barnett, Dean-Charles Chapman, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Margarita Levieva. Keanu Reeves has not yet been announced officially as a cast member by the studio.
The series showrunner Leslye Headland discussed how the show is going to be different from other franchise series. While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Headland stated,
“The Acolyte stands out because it is the earliest in the Star Wars timeline that we have ever been in live-action. We are toward the end of the High Republic, leading into George’s prequels, so we are looking at a time period where the Jedi are at the height of their power.”
“We’re looking at a time period where there is peace throughout the galaxy. It was very challenging and interesting to make a Star Wars with no war in it. So the question became, Well, what should the show be about if it’s not going to be about galactic conflict?“
He added that what sets the series apart from other Star Wars series is that it is told from the perspectives of the villains.
“I think that what makes this show different and interesting is that it’s from the perspective of the villains of Star Wars. These are people who are using the Force in their own way, dipping into the darker sides of the Force and are doing it without being sanctioned by the larger institution, which, in this case, is the Jedi.”
Squid Game actor Lee Jung-Jae also expressed his excitement to play a Jedi Master in the series.
“I didn’t know that I’d be playing a Jedi master. And this is a huge opportunity, which I’m still extremely grateful for. And to be playing in a film that I really enjoyed watching is still surreal for me. I can’t believe I’m playing a Jedi master and I get to use a lightsaber!”
