Reigniting a Classic Comedy Duo
Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell, the iconic comedic pair, are back in the spotlight with the release of “Good Burger 2.” Their recent conversation with Variety has sparked excitement among fans as Thompson affirmed their commitment to continued collaboration. Reflecting on their journey since Nickelodeon, Thompson shared his enthusiasm for exploring new possibilities with Mitchell.
“It would be only right for us to continue to go explore what Kenan and Kel could have been when we were in our 20s when we left Nickelodeon and decided to try to figure it out, instead of just automatically doing the Abbott and Costello thing. Now that we’re older and sharper and wiser and this that and the other, we can do it at such a high level on so many different outlets or whatever. We know so much now. There’s so many different parts to the business. There’s so many different opportunities and we’re just ready to tackle all of that. So it’s very exciting, I think, especially when we’ll be able to own it.” – Kenan Thompson
A Long-Awaited Return to Good Burger
It’s been nearly three decades since Kenan and Kel graced the screen in “Good Burger.” Now, with the sequel’s release, the duo hints at the possibility of reuniting more frequently, potentially even hinting at a “Good Burger 3.”
‘Good Burger 2’: A Blend of Comedy and Contemporary Issues
“Good Burger 2,” directed by Phil Traill and written by Kevin Kopelow, Heath Seifert, and James III, brings back Thompson and Mitchell as Dexter Reed and Ed, respectively. The film adds a modern twist to the comedy, delving into themes of robots and AI, a current concern in the fast-food industry.
“We wanted to be with the times, with the robot field and AI, all those different things. That’s something that is a threat to the fast food industry and you get to see that in ‘Good Burger,’ which is pretty cool. And we wanted some action in there and we want some depth. That was a thing with the characters. You see some emotional parts in the movie as well.” – Kel Mitchell

The sequel features an ensemble cast including Josh Server, Lori Beth Denberg, Alex R. Hibbert, Kamaia Fairburn, Fabrizio Guido, Elizabeth Hinkler, Emily Hinkler, Anabel Graetz, Jillian Bell, Lil Rel Howery, and Carmen Electra, adding depth and diversity to the film’s narrative.
