The first episode of the True Crime thriller Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is now available on Netflix. People have been motivated to look for older songs by pop stars as a result of it.
Katy Perry was the first artist to face criticism following the release of her hit song “Dark Horse” in 2013, in which the star sang: “She’s a beast/ I call her Karma/ She eats your heart like Jeffrey Dahmer.”
Now it’s Kesha’s turn to take the blame as her song “Cannibal” from 2010 has been criticized on Twitter due to its lyrics. Some people have called her songwriting “insensitive” in light of the premiere of the Netflix series this week.
Kesha, along with Pebe Sebert, Joshua Coleman, and Mathieu Jomphe, was responsible for the creation of the song. TikTok made it possible for the song to be updated in 2020, despite the fact that it did not fare particularly well when it was first released. Despite this, it was able to be updated.
Cannibalism is a metaphor for Kesha’s tendency to eat her boyfriends, which is a human-on-human form of consumption that is prominently featured in the track. Given the title of the song, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that human-on-human consumption is featured prominently in the song.
“Your little heart goes pitter-patter, I want your liver on a platter,” the lyrics sing.
“Be overly sweet or you’ll end up being an unstoppable loser.” I’ll make an Jeffrey Dahmer. I feed boys for breakfast and lunch, and when I’m thirsty, take their blood.
“Carnivore animal, I’m cannibal. I am a cannibal who eats boys You better get out of the way.”

The track is currently the topic of many conversations on Twitter, as evidenced by a recent post by one user: “Kind of insane that Kesha casually had a line in her song about how she’d pull a Jeffrey Dahmer.”
Another person said: “I just learned who Jeffrey Dahmer is . I knew his name because Kesha used his name in the lyrics to her song “Cannibal”.. I have to remove the song immediately.. What is the reason we allow fans to be insane people? Of course Netflix creates a show about it.”
“The casual mention of jeffrey dahmer in kesha’s song cannibal has never really sunk in until now and what the f**k,” tweeted another person.
Some people brought up the point that the problem might be overblown.
“Are Twitter people really trying to cancel Katy Perry and Kesha for mentioning Jeffrey Dahmer on their songs almost 10 years after they were released?” asked one twitter user.
“People mad at Kesha and Katy for having lyrics about Jeffrey Dahmer in their songs from last decade,” one person said.
Another tweeted: “Everyone suddenly condemning song lyrics that refer to Jeffrey dahmer. …. Don’t ever cancel Kesha, Cannibal was a bop, no matter what.”
Tweets discussing the lyrics of Perry’s song were very similar to one another. one user made a comment: “Katy Perry should catch some flack for her use of the lyrics, “She take your heart out as Jeffrey Dahmer’. The disrespect she shows to the families of victims.”
