Kevin Durant has expressed his thoughts over the Damian Lillard trade deal that has taken the whole NBA fandom by storm.
Damian Lillard has requested a trade after being the star for the Portland Trail Blazers. The fans are devastated by his possible exit from the Portland Trail Blazers. At the same time, fans are eagerly anticipating Scoot Henderson to take over from here.
But Damian Lillard’s trade deal is definitely something that fans are still upset about. It is almost certain that the seven-time All-Star would take his abilities elsewhere after several failures in the playoffs at Portland.
On the other hand, Kevin Durant himself had requested to be traded to Phoenix Suns from Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, and other picks. This was five months ago.
Kevin Durant’s Tweet About The Ongoing Damian Lillard Trade Deal
After Lillard’s request for a trade, Durant had put out his own perception about Lillard’s trade as he replied to a fan who expressed how it is important to support the players but at the same time, it seems frustrating if it doesn’t benefit their favourite team as at the end of the day fans want their favourite team to win.
The fan commented, “You gotta rock with players and I get that. But I can’t think this benefits fans who want THEIR favourite team to be successful unless they are one of the five-six teams who always end up as the destination.”
Kevin Durant replied to the comment, he says in his tweet, “Fans love the game of basketball, they will move on just like they do when the organization trades a fan favorite. In this case, portland fans can’t wait to watch scoots career. I don’t see what the big deal is [sic].”

Durant was honest in his words, and his perception as a professional basketball player adds to how different things are for fans and players. They seem to value different things while taking into account their emotions and goals. Fans have their favorite teams. They want their favorite teams to win and do well. They grow attached to players who perform well to help the team contend. Players also want to perform well and accelerate their careers and achieve their goals, and it might require them a different team to do so.
After all, however much you love a team, the league or the players cannot cater to fans’ emotional demands and enjoy seeing players do what they wish for their career, despite the frustration or result of the outcome.
