Britney Spears is now being stigmatized for being the mother of teenage sons as if she hasn’t been through enough already. Kevin Federline, her sentient ex-husband sporting an Ed Hardy hat, felt it was time to stir things up and shared recordings of Spears yelling at her two children on social media. Her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden, shot the tapes years ago. Although Spears raises her voice above the baby voice she typically employs on her own social media in the now-deleted clips to speak to her children, the situation is more nuanced than Federline accidentally revealing some private information.
The contentious conservatorship Britney was subjected to, in which she was drugged, abused, and manipulated, is when the videos were shot. Additionally, most families have difficult situations that they wouldn’t want to be exposed to in isolation. Federline captioned the videos, “I cannot sit back and let my sons be accused in this way after what they’ve been through. We decided as a family to post these videos they took when they were 11 and 12. This isn’t even the worst of it. The lies have to stop. I hope our kids grow up to be better than this. #NeverFearTruth.”
When Johnny Depp won his defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife, Amber Heard, he started using the same hashtag and creating NFTs under it. Federline did the same. Depp made headlines by airing all of the couple’s unclean laundry during that trial, and Federline seems enthralled by the Depp narrative to desire his own turn in the spotlight to drag his ex through the muck for some kind of unanticipated vindication.

The social media posts follow Federline’s interview with the Daily Mail from last week, in which he painted a picture-perfect family life for his blended family with his wife, Victoria, which is supported by $20,000 per month in child support from Spears, in contrast to the toxic environment he claimed Britney’s home is for the boys. Federline unnecessarily reveals that Sean and Jayden haven’t seen their mother in months and that they turned down the opportunity to attend her marriage to longtime companion Sam Asghari in June.
He claims that he is speaking out in an effort to shock Spears, who he claims offends her sons with her Instagram nude photographs. He told the magazine, “If there was a way – any way – I could possibly say something to just open [Britney’s] eyes – but I haven’t found that yet. I feel like, if I found that, I’d be on the phone trying to tell her.” Britney responded to the comments in her own posts, one of which was captioned, “I need to OPEN my EYES ??? Then you’ll explain things to me ??? Can you explain to MY ASS,” and another that showed her with a towel over her face that read, “I’D RATHER GO BLIND !!! WHAT’S WORTH A SHOT ??? JUST SAYING !!!!” She also posted an Instagram story that read, “It saddens me to hear that my ex-husband has decided to discuss the relationship between me and my children. As we all know, raising teenage boys is never easy for anyone … It concerns me the fact that the reason is based on my Instagram … it was LONG before Instagram … I gave them everything. Only one word: HURTFUL … I’ll say it … My mother told me ‘You should GIVE them to their dad.’ I’m sharing this because I can … Have a good day folks!!!”
Federline also praised Britney’s conservatorship, which has been widely established was harsh. Federline said of Britney’s conservator, her father, “I saw this man that really cared, and really cares about his family and wanting everything to be OK. When Jamie took over, things got into order. He saved her life.” In the end, Federline doesn’t seem to have Spears’ or their sons’ best interests at heart in any manner. Nothing is accomplished by expertly crafted videos that publicly humiliate Spears. Federline is only interested in himself if his use of Depp’s hashtag is any indicator.
