14 year old Konerak Sinthasomphone was Jeffrey Dahmer’s youngest victim as shown in “Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story”. The series delves into the life of the infamous American serial killer known as the Milwaukee Cannibal or Milwaukee Monster. Jeffrey Dahmer‘s reign of terror lasted for over a decade, and the second episode of the series sheds light on one of his youngest victims.
What happened to Konerak Sinthasomphone?
The episode revolves around the horrific events leading to Konerak Sinthasomphone’s death. On May 27, 1991, Jeffrey Dahmer lured the 14-year-old boy to his apartment, promising money for a nude photoshoot. Once inside, Dahmer drugged and assaulted him, capturing explicit images of his unconscious body.
Leaving Sinthasomphone in his apartment, Dahmer went out to buy beer. In a semi-conscious state, the young victim managed to escape, only to be found by three women, including Glenda Cleaveland, the next-door neighbor, as depicted in the Netflix series. In reality, Sandra Smith and Nicole Childress found him and alerted the police.
When officers John Balcerzak and Joseph Gabrish arrived at the scene, they found the vulnerable boy naked, drugged, and bleeding. Due to his drugged state, Sinthasomphone was leaning on Dahmer and not attempting to flee, which may have misled the police into believing he was safe. Dahmer‘s smooth lies, claiming Sinthasomphone was nineteen, further eased their concerns. The third officer, Richard Porubcan, joined them, and they escorted the young victim back to Dahmer’s apartment.
Heartbreakingly, just half an hour after the police left, Dahmer confessed to killing Konerak Sinthasomphone. The tragedy is compounded by two facts: First, had the police thoroughly searched Dahmer’s apartment at that time, they would have discovered a body. Second, Konerak had a brother named Somsack Sinthasomphone. Three years prior, Dahmer had lured and drugged Somsack, subjecting him to sexual harassment.
Jeffrey Dahmer, the Milwaukee Monster, committed the murder of Konerak Sinthasomphone while on probation for molesting his brother. The series on Netflix provides a harrowing glimpse into this dark chapter of history.
