Kyle Jacobs, the man who was married to Kellie Pickler has died in what authorities think was a suicide. He was 49.
In a statement, the Nashville Police Department confirms that the Department of Emergency Communications was called to a home at 1:21 p.m. local time on Friday.
When police and the Nashville Fire Department got there, they found the songwriter “dead from what appeared to be a gunshot wound he gave himself,” they said in a statement.
His death is being investigated as an apparent suicide.
The 36-year-old former “Dancing with the Stars” contestant told police that she woke up before Jacobs but couldn’t find him. The statement says that she and her assistant called the police when they couldn’t open the door to a room in the house.
In his last Instagram post, which he put up the day before he died, Jacobs shared a photo of Lee Brice’s Hey World being certified platinum and talked about a career win.
Platinum?! SWEEEET!!! An amazing crew of incredibly talented peeps put this one together…Deeply honored to be a creative part of it…Thank you Jesus!!!
he captioned the special moment.
Music City Hitmakers says that Jacobs moved from Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Nashville in the year 2000.
He composed the hit songs “More Than a Memory” by Garth Brooks and “Still” by Tim McGraw.
He has also worked with Kelly Clarkson, Randy Travis, Scott McCreery, Josh Kelley, and Clay Walker, all of whom are well-known musicians.
Jacobs won a CMA Award, and an ACM Award, and was nominated for a Grammy Award over the course of his career.
On January 1, 2011, Pickler and Jacobs got married in a surprise wedding. They don’t have any kids together.
The two had been dating since 2008, and Jacobs asked for her hand in marriage on a Florida beach on June 15, 2010.
It was the most spiritual moment.
Pickler, who started out on American Idol, said this about the proposal.
We would’ve gotten married that night had there been a preacher walking by!
Pickler sent out a tweet a few days after her wedding,
Private Island. Caribbean. Cigar in one hand, Rum in the other. Someone just called me “Mrs. Jacobs.”….sounds nice 🙂
