Kyrie won the MVP award in the 2014 NBA All-Star games without even aiming at the award. In a conversation, Kyrie explained how he was playing that game with a very casual attitude and was there just to have some fun. Surprisingly, Kyrie ended up winning the MVP award, which remains one of his career’s highlights.

Just a day before the game, Kyrie Irving gave an interview at Nike House of Hoops, where he was asked several questions about the game. He was asked about his plans for the All-Star game; Kyrie explained that he is aiming to go there have fun, and put on a good game for the fans.
I’m just trying to go out there and have fun and put on a show for the fans. I’m going iso on everybody at the top of the key or on the wing. [laughs] That’s what it’s about. The past All-Star games, if you’ve watched them, it was real competitive and it’s the greatest players in the world playing on one stage. I think the fans just want to see us compete and play hard.
It was quite clear that Kyrie was out there with a casual attitude, as he mentioned he just wanted to have fun on the court. His ending up winning MVP was a little surprising but at the same time, it shows how strong as a player Kyrie is.
