Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is reportedly considering teaming up with Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic by joining the Dallas Mavericks. With James’ Lakers contract coming to an end soon, fans might actually get to see a star-studded team-up of the big three in Dallas.
NBA Star LeBron James Joining Mavericks
If rumours are to be believed, LeBron James might be leaving LA Lakers to join the Dallas Mavericks. According to reports, Dallas star Kyrie Irving reached out to James requesting him to join him and Luka in Dallas to form a superteam. It doesn’t seem unlikely that the four-time NBA Champion would want to reunite with his ex-Cavaliers teammate, Irving. Both James and Irving played together for the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2014 to 2017.
In September 2022, NBA reported that LeBron had signed a two-year contract extension through the 2024-25 season with LA Lakers for $97.1 million. According to Klutch Sports CEO, Rich Paul, the league-maximum deal makes LeBron James the highest-paid player in NBA history. James’ renewed contract also included a player option which would see him with the Lakers past December 2024.
LeBron James Teaming Up With Kyrie Irving?

“I’ll think about it”
Realistically, there is a lot for LeBron James to think about before he decides to make the move towards Dallas Mavericks. NBA’s all-time top-scorer is well-settled in Los Angeles with his family and his son, Bronny James, recently joined the University of South California (USC). Moreover, Kyrie Irving will soon be a free agent as his contract hasn’t yet been extended by the Mavericks. The Mavericks will be required to prioritise Irving’s contract which is rumoured to be a five-year deal costing $272 million.
