Netflix has decided to add a twist to the fourth season of The Witcher.
Henry Cavill’s role as Geralt of Rivia will be taken over by Liam Hemsworth in the epic drama series.
The move comes before the show’s third season, which will start in the summer of 2023. The Witcher: Blood Origin comes out on December 25, 2022. It is a four-part prequel series.
Cavill said earlier this week that he would be back as Superman. In the first three seasons of the drama series, he played the grim Geralt of Rivia, who fought against supernatural beasts.
The Witcher is a story about how the lives of three different people are intertwined in the huge world of The Continent, where humans, elves, witchers, gnomes, and monsters fight to stay alive and grow, and where it’s not always easy to tell who is good and who is bad.
It also stars Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan.
Hemsworth is best known for his roles in the Hunger Games movies. Recently, he was in the drama Most Dangerous Game, which was made for Quibi. In what is thought to be a very good deal, he will take on the role of Geralt of Rivia.
Sources say that Cavill signed a short-term contract for The Witcher and felt it was time to move on after three seasons on the show, which films overseas and has a busy production schedule. In addition to Superman’s return, he already has plans for movies and TV shows. The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, which was just announced, is one of them. Sources say that Cavill’s co-stars on The Witcher changed their contracts before Season 4.
Lauren Schmidt Hissrich is the showrunner and executive producer. Executive producers are also Tomek Baginski, Jason F. Brown, Sean Daniel, Mike Ostrowski, Steve Gaub, and Jarosaw Sawko.
Cavill said, “My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for season 4. In my stead, the fantastic Mr Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men. Liam, good sir, this character has such a wonderful depth to him, enjoy diving in and seeing what you can find.”
Hemsworth added, “As a Witcher fan I’m over the moon about the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia. Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I’m honoured that he’s handing me the reins and allowing me to take up the White Wolf’s blades for the next chapter of his adventure. Henry, I’ve been a fan of yours for years and was inspired by what you brought to this beloved character. I may have some big boots to fill, but I’m truly excited to be stepping into The Witcher world.”
