This is not the first time and this won’t be the last time either. Lil Wayne has yet again topped the Billboard 200 with his song Tha Carter V. In 2018, Lil Wayne has earned the third largest week with this album.
The Young Money rapper has sold around 480,000 album units including 141,000 traditional sales in the week before 4 October. Tha Carter V has also scored the second best streaming week ever for an album. There was a demand of 433 million audio streams in the first week of the release of the album itself. Scorpion by Drake holds the No. 1 position when it comes to largest streaming week. There were 745.9 million demands for audio streaming of Drake’s Scorpion.
The other three albums by Lil Wayne that topped the Billboard include Tha Carter III of 2008, I Am Not a Human Being from 2010 and Tha Carter IV of 2011. These albums held the No. 1 position for three, one and two weeks respectively.
Following Scorpion by Drake (732,000) and Astroworld by Travis Scott (537,000), Lil Wayne’s The Carter V earned the third largest sales week in 2018 for an album.
Logic’s Weezy is followed by YSIV and made to no. 2 selling 167,000 units. Then we have Cher’s Dancing Queen followed by Kevin Gates’ Luca Brasi 3. This is Gates’ third top after By Any Means 2 and Islah.
