The British thriller, Lockwood and Co., was released earlier this year on Netflix. The series was an instant hit which scored a top ten place on Netflix’s trending page. Based on a book by Jonathan Stroud of the same name, the thriller-drama has certainly left fans with some unanswered questions.
Will There Be A Lockwood and Co. Season 2?
Unfortunately, it has been officially announced that Netflix will not be renewing Lockwood and Co. for a second season. The announcement was made back in May 2023 by the production company, Complete Fiction Pictures. They expressed their gratitude to the fans and the team of Netflix UK for their support.

Suffice it to say that the fans were surely disheartened to hear the news of the series being cancelled after one season. It was certainly more disappointing since the first season left many questions unanswered and ended the series on a cliffhanger. Here are some fans’ reactions-
“I’m going to miss that opening theme! I never skip it.” -@boxofwolves
“I’m devastated. For a show that was “there for me” during a tumultuous time in my life, this stings. I’m sure it hurts you guys, more though.” -@CountRights
“Please is there any chance to move to other platform? But with the same actors and actress?” -@vanicun
“Oh, this is awful! I really loved this show, the fans loved it, it bought the books to life, everyone wanted more of it – I don’t see any reason for Netflix to cancel it. I’m getting so annoyed with getting into really good shows on Netflix only to have them cancelled” -@michelleeb
“Hope someone at the BBC is paying attention. Would be good on @BBCiPlayer” -@anyotherleader
According to Variety, Netflix was very pleased with the show and the work that had gone into realising the project. However, since the show didn’t meet the expected viewership count, the streaming service decided to not move forward with a second season.
Why Lockwood and Co. Should Return With A Season 2?
The show is about a group of teens in London who operate without supervision throughout the city plagued by ghosts. Starring Ruby Stokes as Lucy Carlyle, Cameron Chapman playing the group leader named Anthony Lockwood, and Ali Hadji-Heshmati playing George Karim. The trio come together to form an independent ghost-busting company, Lockwood and Co.
The charming trio of Lucy, Anthony, and George are hard not to love. They are young, funny, and courageous teens who are willing to give their all to save the city from mysterious ghouls. Moreover, the drama, action, excitement, and suspense will keep you hooked from the very beginning. Director Joe Cornish has done a great job of delivering enthralling action scenes set in the backdrop of London. Each episode leaves you wanting more which makes it a binge-worthy show.
As each episode progresses, you are drawn further into the ghostly London and the trio’s attempts to fight the odds. From the story writing and direction to the casting, everything has hit the right spot. This is the reason, the fans cannot get enough of the show. With the news of the show being cancelled, the mystery that will keep fans awake at night is the cliffhanger at which Lockwood and Co. ended.
But the sad news is that the show has ended and there is very little the fans can do than to expect that the show may be picked up by another network. However, the production company, Complete Fiction Pictures, which is founded by Joe Cornish, Edgar Wright, Nira Park, and Rachael Prior will be coming up with more projects on Netflix. So, fans can expect some more scintillating series from the team behind the wonderful Lockwood and Co.
