The late rapper from Pittsburgh, Mac Miller, has been nominated in Grammy Awards in the Best Rap Album category. Mac Miller has reportedly received his very first Grammy nomination just after months of passing away due to a drug overdose.
The Pittsburgh born rapper’s latest album “Swimming” has reportedly been nominated in the category rap album of the year. Swimming is going toe to toe with “Invasion of Privacy” by Cardi B, Victory Lap by Nipsey Hussle, Daytona by Pusha T and Astroworld by Travis Scott.
Mac Miller died at a tender age of 26 on 7th of September in his LA home. The County Coroner’s office of Los Angeles as determined that he has died because of an accident related to drug overdose by combining cocaine, fentanyl and alcohol.
Miller was born and brought up in Point Breeze Pittsburgh neighbourhood, and he has his education from Allderdice High School. After Miller’s death, more than 2,000 people have attended the Blue Slide Playground because of a vigil at the Frick Park. Frick Park was reflecting in his single which came out back in 2011 “Blue Slide Park.”
Back in the year 2015, Mac Miller told Tribune-Review that he wishes that every single album of his must have its sound for reflecting where he was a point in his life. Mac Miller also said during that time that he wants every single record of his will represent where he was during that time- physically, mentally and spiritually.
Swimming was released on third of August 2018, and the album debuted at No. 3 on Billboard 200 charts of the record, and the album vaulted back again into the top 10 after his alleged death. Rolling Stone also said about Swimming that, it is the most impactful album of Mac Miller’s Career. Swimming is a revelation about Miller’s addiction of the past along with a DWI arrest & high-profile splitting up with Ariana Grande.
