It was a mother-son outing for Angelina Jolie and her eldest child Maddox Jolie-Pitt.
On April 26, the 47-year-old Oscar winner and the 21-year-old went to a state dinner at the White House in Washington, D.C. Angelina wore a cream blazer over a white, flowy dress for the event. To finish off her look, she added pearl earrings and a necklace, a gold clutch, and red lipstick. Maddox wore a black suit over a white shirt and a tie that went with the suit.
At the dinner, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and First Lady Kim Keon Hee were guests of U.S. President Joe Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden. Maddox, who went to school at Yonsei University in Seoul, and Angelina Jolie were not the only famous people there. Chip and Joanna Gaines from the show Fixer Upper and Olympic snowboarder Chloe Kim were also there.
Maddox rarely goes out in public.
The last time he did was in October 2021, when he and his siblings went to the U.K. premiere of Angelina Jolie’s movie Eternals.
With her ex-husband Brad Pitt, the actress has five other children: Pax, 19, Zahara, 18, Shiloh, 16, and the twins Knox and Vivienne, 14. Angelina filed for divorce from the actor in 2016, after they had been together for more than a decade and been married for about two years. In 2019, they were both legally single.
Most of the time, the ex-couple keeps their kids out of the public eye. However, the kids have made a few public appearances. In February 2022, Zahara went to Washington, D.C., with her mother to lobby for the Violence Against Women Act to be renewed. Shiloh and Pax went with Angelina to the premiere of the documentary Paper & Glue in Los Angeles in November 2021.
In the past few years, the Girl, Interrupted star has also shown glimpses of their family life. Like when she told everyone with pride in August that Zahara would be going to Spelman College. And in October 2021, Angelina told the world what her kids thought about seeing her in Eternals as a superhero.
I think they still find it really funny because they know me and Mom’s mom, and so maybe in some way it blew the universe, like, ‘Marvel’s so cool, but Mom? Mom’s a superhero?’
Jolie joked during E! News’ Daily Pop at the time.
They’re really supportive and I think they find it fun. It’s like those great friends, they’re here more in that loving and supportive way more than for themselves and excited. They back me up when I’m nervous and we kind of try to help each other out.
