Overview

The episode starts with Magnum and Higgins having a heart-to-heart conversation over dinner, where Magnum plans to propose to her. Higgins decides to go undercover as a psychiatrist in the psychiatric hospital where Otis worked, but the hospital staff foils her plans. Nurse Tanaka, the only person willing to talk to her reveals that Otis is struggling with something.
Magnum’s investigation leads him to discover that Otis was meeting with another psychiatrist, who reveals that Otis was investigating a patient who was being held at the hospital illegally. After further digging, they discover Steven, a patient who has been held there for two years despite only being meant to stay for two weeks. Magnum interviews the man who has been paying for Steven’s care, and the man tells him that the hospital insists on keeping Steven for further treatment. This leads Magnum to suspect that Derek, Steven’s former business partner, is involved in keeping Steven in the hospital.
Meanwhile, Higgins continues to work undercover at the hospital, promising Steven that she will get him out of there. Unfortunately, Derek’s sidekick discovers her snooping around and drugs her.
