The fact that the boys were the only ones left of their biological family meant that they were glad to be able to keep living together.
When they move from one foster home to another, kids of all ages, even babies, go through a lot of emotional upheavals. Some kids have to live away from their brothers and sisters, while others are lucky enough to live with their relatives. The only time they can talk to each other is at their monthly meetings, so they have to rely on those.
It is very upsetting to see siblings kept apart from each other.
In fact, many children who are put into foster care experience a lot of anxiety, depression, physical pain, and emotional grief as a result of their placement. Their feelings are a direct result of their new environment, in which they must learn to adapt in order to stay alive. The new environment tends to make them feel many different things.
Some of the kids are in a lot of emotional pain because they are separated from their siblings.
Many sets of siblings end up being taken in by different families, which is sad, but it happens all the time. As a direct result of this, the children who are part of this system feel very sad.
Several studies show that when kids are taken from their families and put into the care of the child welfare system, they may feel like a big part of who they are has been taken away.
It shouldn’t surprise anyone that the story of the two brothers has touched a lot of people.
Child Protective Services had been in charge of both Tre and Ke’lynn for the past three and a half years, during which time they had been separated from each other.
Most of that time, they stayed in foster homes that couldn’t have been more different from each other. Before the children could move in together, they had to get over the traumatic things that had happened to them individually.
During his interview with WFAA, Ke’lynn wiped his tears away and said the following:
I want to see him every day and I don’t.
Tre and Ke’lynn came to the conclusion that they could only rely on each other for support. However, they could only go see their son once a month. After all, they had been through, the brothers almost didn’t want to let go of each other when they saw each other again.
When asked if he could have anything he wanted, Tre gave an honest and straightforward answer. He said he would choose happiness.
He said,
To live with him.
When the brothers were in trouble, a kind man who cared about them and wanted to help them came to their aid.
Dr. Robert Beck talked with WFAA about his ideas, which were:
I was crying mostly because it just pulled at my heartstrings, and I felt an instant connection with the boys, and I said I’ve got to figure out a way to get these boys in my home and learn more about them.
After watching the video of the brothers, he thought about what he saw and decided to adopt them.
When Beck told them the news, both boys started crying and ran to hug Beck, who would become their father in the future. All of them were happy because it meant that Beck and the boys would finally be able to live together again after being apart for a long time. They were also given a forever home by a kind man who told them he would take care of all their needs in the future.
