A source says that the luckiest person around is at it again, buying more property with the record-setting $2 billion Powerball jackpot he won in November.
Edwin Castro claimed his prize last month, and last week he bought a $25 million bachelor pad in the Hollywood Hills. And according to public records, he just bought another home in Altadena for $4 million. It is close to the gas station where he bought the winning ticket.
A source says that the five-bedroom, four-bathroom home built in 1953 is modern, with touches of Japan and Palm Springs. Two of the bedrooms were set up as an art studio and a movie theater that didn’t make any noise. On the outside, there is a saltwater swimming pool, a pond, and a patio.
Castro’s three-story mansion is on the side of a hill in Hollywood. It has five bedrooms, five bathrooms, and two powder rooms. There is a gym, a cold plunge pool, a wine cellar, a movie theater, and a sauna on the lower level. There is a rooftop deck, a kitchen, and an infinity pool outside.
Castro came forward after buying the winning ticket at Joe’s Service Center in Altadena for more than three months. The California Lottery told him on February 14 that he had won.
The total prize was $2.04 billion, which is the most money ever won in a U.S. lottery. Castro chose to get the $997.6 million all at once.
