Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather Jr was the bout of this decade. 40-year old Manny Pacquiao is now the Senator in the Philippines. However, he doesn’t have any plan to retire from his boxing career. He recently got some fan advice on his next opponent and you shouldn’t be surprised to know that Floyd Mayweather tops the list of the fans.

A Twitter poll was recently opened by Manny Pacquiao for his more than 2 million followers with a question, “Whom should I go against next?” His list had four names: Keith Thurman, Shawn Porter, Danny Garcia and of course, Floyd Mayweather.
The poll got over with 80,448 votes. As one would expect, a majority of 73% or numerically, 58,700 fans wanted a Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao match.
However, we can’t confirm anything as of now or if the two will actually have a rematch against one another. Manny Pacquiao has been very vocal about wanting this rematch to take place. So, this means that it depends on Floyd Mayweather now if he wants to take on Manny Pacquiao or not.
Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather Jr: Mayweather has declined the challenge earlier
Pacquiao has been in politics for nine years now and he last defended his title in January last year while facing Adrien Broner. Manny Pacquiao performed really well which sparked hopes among fans and analysts that he may take on Mayweather.
Even Manny Pacquiao wanted to face Mayweather and he states the same after defeating Broner.
He said, “Go tell Mayweather to get back here in the ring and we shall fight. I want to take on him again, to go against Floyd Mayweather.”
However, for all Manny Pacquiao fans, the challenge posed by him wasn’t taken positively by Mayweather and camp. Floyd’s Promotion Manager Leonard Ellerbe stated that Mayweather has retired and isn’t interested in fighting now. He even stated that it’s not always about the cash.
Will it really happen?
On the other hand, the request from millions of Manny Pacquiao fans who wish to see a Floyd Mayweather match against Pacquiao seems like it won’t be happening anytime soon.
The second vote went to boxer Keith Thurman, who has a record of 29-0 with 22 KOs. Thurman is seen as the best boxer in the division.
For now, all we can do is hope for Floyd Mayweather to have a change of heart and agree to face Manny Pacquiao one last time.
